Thomas A. Glazier Senior Education Center will be offering CERT Training at 16600 Pine Forest Lane, Houston, TX 77084. Training is free and open to residents of Harris County that are 55 or older and you will need to register. Classes will be held on Tuesdays from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, starting January 7 and ending February 25, 2025. To register, contact Glazier SEC at (713) 274-3250.
The City of La Porte will hold CERT training at the La Porte Police Department, 3001 N 23rd Street, La Porte, Tx. The training is free and open to the public. Classes will be held on Thursday evenings from 6 - 9 pm, beginning January 16 and ending March 6, 2025. Tomball Area CERT training will be held at the Tomball Fire Department Station 1 located at 1200 Rudel Road, Tomball, Texas 77375. Training will be held Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. starting March 26 and ending May 14, 2025. To register and/or for more information, contact Lisa Sterle at cert@tomballtx.gov.
The Humble Area CERT will host CERT training at the Harris County Fire and Sheriff Training Academy, 2316 Atascocita Road, Humble, Texas 77396. IS-317.A: Introduction to Community Emergency Response Team (CERTs)
This FEMA Independent Study online course is an introduction to the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program for those interested in learning about the CERT program. The course includes three lessons: Introduction to CERT, What CERTs Do, and Becoming Involved. Remember: It is important to understand that completion of this Independent Study course is not equivalent to, and cannot be used in place of the classroom delivery of the CERT Basic training. To become a CERT volunteer, you must complete the classroom training.

IS-315.A: CERT and the Incident Command System (ICS)
This Independent Study (IS) course introduces you to the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) relationship to the Incident Command System (ICS), a proven management system used by emergency managers to help maintain the safety of disaster workers, provide clear leadership and organizational structure, and improve the effectiveness of rescue efforts. This program educates any Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program manager, CERT trainer, or emergency responder who may manage and/or coordinate with a CERT about the CERT’s potential roles in a disaster or emergency situation.
